Lyric Brown is not a reader. People learn to read in different ways depending on their surroundings. People who are not surrounded by others who enjoy reading may not be as inclined to read as people who are surrounded by bookworms. A person who is not surrounded by people who enjoy reading may learn to read from their friends, or most logically, school. A person who is surrounded by people who like to read will learn more quickly from the people they are constantly around. People read for many reasons. A prime and obvious reason is reading to get information. People read the news, recipes, and street signs. Without reading, individuals would have a hard time communicating with one another. Just like anything else, good reading takes practice. Practicing can include reading for a set amount of time each day, or reading every day things around you (street signs, menus, etc.). For Lyric, reading is made easy by having something interesting to read about. Interests include astronomy, human behavior, and politics. The hardest part about reading is staying focused. For Lyric, it takes a lot to keep her focused, and the passage in which she reads has to be interesting and or captivating to keep her on track. Typically, Lyric chooses books with deep emotional meaning, or books that include serious things involving murder and assault. The reason she picks book like this is to try to understand people better, and why people do the things they do. Though she reads when forced to at school, Lyric does not read often at home, unless it is on a news website such as Flipboard, where she can keep up with news, political and worldly. In general, Lyric is not a reader. She reads when she has to but does not go out of her way to sit down to a good book.
Lyric Brown is a writer, and was taught how to write (and draw) at a young age. Her grandfather used to take her outside to write. Outside, there was a chalkboard in the garage, this is where Lyric learned to spell and write her first and last name. People write in order to communicate. Though communication is often verbal, people who cannot express things verbally use writing as their form of communication. In order to become 'good' at writing, you must practice it. Practicing may include keeping a diary or looking online at good typing techniques. Lyric enjoys all kinds of writing, though poetry is something she considers herself good at. Poetry is limitless yet constructed in a way that allows a person to express their ideas and feelings without getting out of control. When it comes to deciding on what to write about, Lyric tends to allow her feelings to take control of her pencil. Not only do her emotions impact her work, but nature, human and non, play a part in her inspiration. Writing takes place a lot in the Brown residence. Lyric takes pleasure in writing in her free time. Typically her writing consists of story ideas and character design, and in general, Lyric IS a writer.
